I miss Humanity Rising's daily webinar!! Like the long summer holidays when I was a kid, Humanity Rising's August hiatus gave me time to reconsider and regroup, but it's been a long summer/month. We've continued to meet in Gaia's Zoom Room every Tuesday, from 6-8pm PT at The Conversation Campfire at TheConversation.cc. Beginning on September 5 at 8:00am PT, Humanity Rising (HR) will reconvene weekday webinars, after which is the AfterChat that I usually moderate. I'd almost forgotten what it feels like to have choices spread out before me and time to play. I'm grateful for HR; new people and new subjects each day, all for the time I give it. That's heavenly, to me. I enjoy the challenge of it -- but it was time to take a breath! Every year in July the host of HR, Jim Garrison, takes a group on pilgrimage to Chartres, France. In August, he takes a holiday and begins to arrange the HR line-up for September. This is the 3rd July since the Covid 19 lockdown gave rise to HR. It's saved my sanity, opened my mind and poured in new concepts. It opened my heart and populated my reality with people who care. Everyone I meet through HR cares about what's going on, and is focused on solutions to the problems Humanity faces, individually and collectively. Listening is never enough for me. HR offers input, but the AfterChat is an outlet for thoughts that don't stop. We had a special session last Thursday to catch up -- we've become like family and miss our daily conversations -- but the break was important for me. My mother (90yr) got sick and I got to help her. It's been nice to spend time with her, and give back a measure of the care she's given me. She's very interested in Our Heart Gardens, the Butler Urban Farm and Kamloops Food Policy Council. I've offered to help the Kamloops Food Policy Council, and bring Humanity Rising to The Stir, our local Food Hub in return for a private quiet place to moderate the AfterChat, when I'm available. I won't be available for 3 weeks in October because Mom and I are going on a cruise to Hawaii, in the plans for almost a year. We'll see the effects of the fire in person; that was NOT in the plans. There are so many things that have not been planned, and we are all learning -through experience- how to be flexible! Thanks for the lessons, MOM. August's almost over and, more than HR, another huge event is in the works! Peace Week is in September and my friend, Shawnda Clawson of Earth Mother Network, is deeply involved in preparations. Jon Ramer of SINE Network, and Becky Suzik and Ben Bowler of Unity Earth, are joining together with HubCast Media International in Vancouver, about 3 1/2 hours down the road from me... I've offered to help! In the meantime, we're all making connections. (I imagine connections sparkle like ideas. We sparkle together!) Making connections is the primary reason Stan created OtherNetworks.org. It's also to keep track of who talks about what on HR, their organizations, and the multitude of episodes. Stan's plan is to categorize all the people and organizations to create more sparkles (well, that's how I see it!) Activation of its potential is the challenge... how do we update the existing records that need to be categorized? (Get help!) And how to get new presenters to categorize themselves? (Create a form?) Oh, so much to do, and people to play with!! If you want to be part of this worthy work, email Stan!

I went to the park to sit in the sun (not there ^) And be alone with You. A young mother with a baby Strapped to her chest Guided and herded two more… And a dog and a cat. Her name was Nicole And it was a delight to my senses What the children did And how they sounded. The audio file I made (speaking to You) Captured their sounds and their attitudes and Nicole’s gentle way of being one of The best kind of MOM there is. It is through young women such as Nicole
That our littles ones will grow up To create that “more beautiful world We know in our hearts is possible*”. * OhGs, thank you, Charles Eisenstein. That phrase clarifies the target and sharpens The point of my arrow of desire. That’s part of what I say in the recording ~ And how we should dance together. I’ve been told that my voice is seductive. You might want to hear it before the kids do… I sat with my back to the playground At a picnic table, on the bench; Phone in my fist And You* on my mind. * You, the One I speak to when I’m alone; the One of which we are each a part And to Whom we belong, like My hands belong to me. The children punctuated my life and my words And didn’t mind that I sat there Awash in their adventure… and ~ I was inspired. I regifted a gift card to her. I found myself telling her about OhGs, the Stir and KFPC ~ And “the corner office” is what my mouth said (And I was shocked. and intrigued ~ What a dreamy possibility!!) I heard myself tell her about OhGs, A Studio and Doing online conversational interviews -- and I just Stepped aside to let my Soul have Her say… I couldn’t have planned that conversation. A former hair stylist, Nicole is now a yoga teacher And doesn’t think of herself as a professional mother. And she’s willing to talk about being a mom To the children who inspired me. So there’ll be a continuation to this encounter And we’ll talk about kids and gardens And lots of other food for thought. I invite you to stay tuned. (Creation of a subscribe option is in process.) In this TED video, George T. Whitesides offers following solutions to mega-fires (>100,000 acres): 03:38 The first solution: fire-adapted communities – clearing the brush and the vegetation from around homes; fire-resistant materials in the homes and the roofs; and protection from embers entering openings like air vents and chimneys. 04:27 The second solution: resilient landscapes – reducing the overgrown brush and trees in the wildlands and the forest. Fire is a natural part of the landscape; introducing low-intensity fire, on a regular basis, at the right times, can divert a megafire. We need to hire, train and retain many more workers; pay them well; support them with full-time work, and protect them from liability where necessary; empower them with innovation. Example: BurnBot makes controlled burns safer and faster by establishing a burned perimeter around an area by remotely piloted rover and then, by drone, safely igniting the middle area. 06:58 The third: innovative fire management offers huge potential to address and solve the wildfire problem. What we need is innovation and technology that can rapidly detect and assess fire and then quickly put it out when it gets bad. And here, speed is paramount, because when you're in the worst kind of fire days -- these are the hottest, driest and windiest fire days -- if you can't bring fire management resources to a fire very quickly, then it is likely that you won't be able to contain that fire. 07:40 The Quick Reaction Force of Southern California (QRF is a public-private partnership) has three Chinook helicopters which drop up to 3000 gallons of water on a fire, very precisely; refills up to six times /hour; exciting potential. 08:32 Imagine a series of larger drone vehicles distributed across the landscape in higher-fire-risk areas; positioned periodically along utility lines or in areas of higher fire-risk deep in the forest. When connected to the right sensor system, we can put out fires even in remote communities. Companies like Rain and Joby Aviation are working on this vision today. 09:14 The sensor system (both ground-based, aerial and space-based platforms) is important for the resolution of this problem. Not just to see and detect fire but also to differentiate between low-intensity fire and high-intensity fire – we need more lower-intensity fire to rejuvenate our forests, as much as we need awareness of the risk of a high intensity fire. 09:52 Conclusion: Fire is a prism through which we can see the future of humanity's relationship with natural systems. Working together and supported by technology, we can build a world in which communities are resilient to wildfire and in which forests are brought back into a healthy balance. Ultimately, we can build a future, in which we don't just manage fire to protect human life and property, but also to protect the biosphere for global carbon emissions and for biodiversity. Ultimately, we need to become the crew of Spaceship Earth. So let's get to work. Let's learn from fire and let's build a resilient, sustainable future. I've provided this synopsis not to dissuade you from watching -- while the visuals are disturbing; the graphs and charts assist understanding. I simply seek to offer You quick and valuable links, information and options. If this is helpful to you, I'd love to hear from you. Tears of relief, of gratitude, celebration that more pieces of the dream are falling into place! On Wednesday I met with Arjun Singh to talk about Our Heart Gardens (OhGs), the "downloaded" Plan for the Transformation of Human Society that came through me onto a website back in about 2014. Arjun is deeply rooted in the city I grew up in, the city my mother lives in, and where I now reside. As I told Arjun, I am hardwired for co-creation - and travel. The work that needs to be done in Kamloops to manifest the OhGs dream cannot be done by me; I don't have the roots -- but I do have connections, and a big dream. We are all Divinely Designed and there are Greater Hands outside of Time weaving us together. That's how I see it, and I'm not the only one. Each of us has our own perspective and way of wording our vision, and each is important. Wondering why we are the way we are is also important, but denying what we are is like saying the Divine made a mistake. There are no mistakes - there are lessons and choices. Learning to make good choices takes practice, and awareness. We need to share our visions so we can choose to create together ways that work well for All. That's my dream. Others share it. Humanity Rising was /is a piece of the dream. I felt it when I first heard of it. It began with the first day of the pandemic lockdown. Focused on solutions, it gave me something good to engage with. Then the AfterChat started. I got to know others who were interested in solutions, and working together. I told my stories and shared my philosophy. It was good. I travelled to meet some of the people I met in the AfterChat, walking up Glastonbury Tor on the dark of the Moon, with Erik and MOM, who validated the activation of the connection of the crystal Erik had buried there with the Galactic Core. Then, on the full moon just 2 weeks later, I walked up Mount Sinai under the full moon, inspired by the words of Lady Fatima "When 1000 women are gathered in my name, I will be there." We weren't all present on the Mountain but we were connected around the world... and She is present. Today on Humanity Rising we heard from Elle and Doreen; Caregivers of Mother Earth. Their dreams are manifesting in their hometown through the children and the elders, and through the gardens they share. You can see the episode in OtherNetworks.org through links Stan Pokras adds each day. (He's another piece of the puzzle!)
The children's books offered by Caregivers of Mother Earth are delightful doorways into the future vision we share. I urge you to engage deeply with these lovely elders, your children, and the vision that engages us all in and with beauty and abundance. What a weekend!! Mom turned 90; a bus ride to a birthday lunch, a birthday dinner with a birthday/carrot cake, and a friend from Calgary who visited for the first time in 7 years... She and Jane were neighbours in Mom's seniors complex. She is Christa (on the left), one of "the Ladies" who were there for me when I was struggling with the decision to move to Rotterdam or stay in my comfortable life. She knows me well. Christa knew Mom (beside her) and me (at the front) before we were friends - yeah, my mother and me became good friends, at last, in the last 2 years. I'm so glad we did... cannot say how glad!! Jane's on the right; she's a beautiful Brit, a Queen of the Red Hat Society! Here's the birthday lunch... The Golden Girls are the trio at the back left; me, Margaret, Hubert (courageous and generous man), Joan (who's known my Mom for more than 60 years); and seated, on the left... that's Shawna on Mom's right and Taylor on her left - they've been friends since before they were 7 or 8 years old, evidenced by the picture they shared of the 2 of them, all dressed up in grown-up gowns and big hats for a tea party that Mom gave them. Such a great memory that they each have a teacup tattoo on their ankle! Next is Bonnie, our favourite bus driver, and Christa completes the party that was held at Quaaout Lodge, located on Little Shuswap Lake - spectacular place, with plans to rebuild the lodge that burnt down in 2022. Christa and I went for a walk on the beach where I introduced her to Atlas, my cottonwood tree friend, and while we were sitting in the shade... a couple of deer visited - surely sent by MOM!!! While I'm sharing Nature, after lunch we went for a drive to see the place Christa and her husband lived when they first moved to Kamloops. I don't have a picture of that, but I think you'll like the view we saw driving back to town... Christa left this morning while I was online watching Humanity Rising, hosted by Sabinije von Gaffke with Jim Garrison as guest, for a change. Sabinije co-hosted with Jim a couple of years ago, for awhile, and has now returned to cover for Jim while he's in Chartres with 93 pilgrims/students of Ubiquity University, of which he is president. To hear their conversation (and the AfterChat) this link takes you to the Day Page on OtherNetworks.org where Stan Pokras archives all the links and recordings and chats and connections! Going forward, I've got a full plate. For 99 Days of Peace Through Unity I've committed to a Mission to present conversations investigating the nature, composition, responsibilities and possibilities of #TheOneWeAre. It feels in alignment with the promise my mouth made when I was a young teen in a moment of crisis, "I will speak for You, when the time is right." I didn't know, and still don't know for sure, Who it was I was speaking to as I gazed, entranced, at the Full Moon. I think it's You.
To view those conversations, and other videos, come to my YouTube channel. I look forward to hearing your comments here, or there, or wherever... |
